E-Mail Settings - Critical Change Required
Effective date: April 2, 2007
SMTP Authentication: Mail Server changes, taking effect on April 2, will require an update to your current mail settings. The change is required in your mail program, and can and should be made as soon as possible. If the change has not been made by April 2, you will not be able to send mail.
SMTP is used to send mail on the Internet. The change to utilize authenticated SMTP has been in the planning stages, and will be complete on April 2, 2007. Compu-SOLVE currently has a number of measures in place, aimed at reducing spam and viruses that make their way through our network. The change to use authenticated SMTP is one further step towards this goal.

Newsgroup Service – Discontinuation of Services
Effective date: June 15, 2006
Compu-SOLVE Internet Services has discontinued newsgroup service, effective Thursday, June 15, 2006. All newsgroups have been removed as of this date.
Newsgroup service has been offered as a free, value-added service since the inception of Compu-SOLVE Internet Services. With the introduction of new, updated technologies and applications, use of newsgroups has steadily declined to a point where less than 0.5% of Internet subscribers are using it.
Recognizing that there are some Internet subscribers that use this type of service, we have listed some alternatives for your consideration, including a site that lists most current free Usenet services.*

FYI - VIRUS/SPAM NEWS
- Windows WMF Vulnerability
A serious vulnerability has been discovered in ALL versions of Microsoft Windows™, regardless of which web browser you are using. Called the "Windows WMF Vulnerability", the vulnerability takes advantage of a flaw in Microsoft image processing code.
Files with the .WMF file extension are the cause of the problem, and even worse, the extension can be changed and the file is still dangerous. This is a particularly bad situation, as simply visiting a web site can infect your computer. We STRONGLY URGE all customers to employ one of the two temporary solutions until Microsoft comes out with an official patch to fix the problem.
